Homeopathy

What It Is

Homeopathy is a gentle, safe, and effective system of medicine that assists your own natural healing process.

Symptoms are seen as a sign that something is out of balance, and that it is the patient who needs treatment as a whole to redress the ‘dis-ease’.

Homeopathic medicines are derived from natural sources and are prescribed on the basis that ‘like cures like’  - a substance which causes particular symptoms in a healthy person will, in turn, cure those symptoms in an ill person.  For example, skin complaints with the appearance and sensation of nettle rash can benefit from the homeopathic remedy Urtica Urens, a remedy derived from the nettle plant.

What Can I Expect?

First and foremost, everything you say is treated in the strictest confidence.

Your first consultation is likely to take approximately an hour (45 minutes for children). This will provide the time and space for us to talk in detail about your health. To be sure of prescribing the best medicine for your particular problem, your homeopath needs to understand your individual needs. This approach to health is holistic - a philosophy of medical care that views physical and mental aspects of life as closely interconnected and equally important approaches to treatment. (Wikipedia).  I will therefore ask you to tell me not only about your symptoms and how you experience them, but also about yourself.

Any information you can supply about your past medical history, and your family’s medical history is useful. Also, details of any prescribed medication. Note: do not discontinue any prescribed medication without first consulting your GP.

Typically you might expect to come for 2 or 3 monthly follow-ups (approximately 30 minutes each) depending on your condition. We would discuss and agree this at your initial consultation.
