The aim of Physiotherapy is to restore normal movement and promote healing and repair of damaged muscles and joints thereby reducing pain and stiffness without the use of drugs or medications. This is achieved by a variety of methods including electrotherapy (including therapeutic ultrasound and interferential), use of heat and cold, massage, mobilisations, stretching and home exercise programmes. You may be put right on your first visit. More commonly you will be asked to return for a review. This is to reassess the problem and to make sure that it has completely resolved. You will be reassessed each time you visit and the treatment adjusted accordingly.
