Reflexology is an ancient natural healing Therapy dating back to Ancient Egypt, India and China.  It is rapidly gaining in popularity as people are taking more responsibility and interest in their own health.  It is a valuable complementary therapy which works on the feet or hands to help heal the whole person not just the prevailing symptoms. It helps us cope on a physical, mental and emotional level. It is an all encompassing treatment since all organs, glands and skeletal systems of the body can be accessed and stimulated through the feet and hands.  The aim of  reflexology is to restore the flow of vital energy by massaging and exerting pressure on these relevant reflex areas.  This simple but surprisingly powerful technique helps to establish balance in the body in a safe and relaxing way.

Who can benefit from Reflexology

Most people can benefit from Reflexology from babies right through to the elderly and infirm.  It is also particularly beneficial during pregnancy.

It helps to reduce stress and tension providing a feeling of well being and can also aid and encourage recovery from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.

What happens when I go for treatment

On the first visit there will be a preliminary discussion with you to determine health and lifestyle and a case history will be taken.  All information given is strictly confidential. Treatment is given while you are fully clothed only your socks and shoes need be removed. Pressure will be applied to the feet.  The specific treatment and the effects will be unique to each person. The session will last approximately one hour.  A course of treatment will be recommended, depending on the persons needs.

How will I feel after a reflexology treatment

Most people feel a sense of well being after one or two treatments and a sense of relaxation.  Sometimes there is a feeling of tiredness or nausea after a session but this soon passes and is part of the healing process. Feedback on this is  important as it is an indication of how your body is responding to the treatment. After one or two treatments your body is likely to respond in a very positive way.

After completing a course of reflexology treatment for a specific condition, many people find it beneficial to continue with regular treatments in order to maintain health and well-being.
